For a good amount of time now, keeping things neutral when it comes to home decor has been the way to go. Whites, blacks, tans, you name it, neutral decor has led the charge. These mellow and versatile colors keep things clean and fresh-looking, with a modern feel that all can appreciate. While we love a good neutral space, that doesn’t mean that we are saying buh-bye to color. Sometimes you just want to add a little fun to your everyday space, especially with summer around the corner! Playing with color might seem a little overwhelming, so we put together our top 4 easy ways to add a pop of color to your space.
#1: Incorporate colorful florals and plants
A colorful bouquet of flowers or a plant in a bright pot is an easy and noncommittal way to add some color to your space. Pick up some flowers with colors you’d like to play with, throw them in a vase, and play with the spot they’re going to live. This way, you can test out colors you like while adding an organic element to the room as well.

#2: Try a colorful mat
What goes on your walls matters. A lot of the time, a framed piece on the wall can be one of the main focal points in the room. Our custom frame builder allows you to create the custom frame of your dreams (you can even test out what your art will look like in the frame virtually). We also have 33 different mat colors (yes, 33) that you can choose from to add a pop of color to your space. We’re talking everything from slate to sea foam to sage, sand, and pink. Using a mat that’s not white or black will add that subtle color you’ve been looking for.

#3: Add a single statement piece
Add a pop of color with a single, bright statement piece. Find something that goes with the neutral elements and hues in your space, that is attention-grabbing but still blends well. Our favorite ways to do this are with a colorful mat in a frame, a bright chair, a fun colored dresser, or statement lighting.

#4: Start small
If bright pops of color or super saturated hues still seem a bit much for your taste, start small! Start adding in colors in small, subtle doses. Colors like blush, pale yellow, and light sage are great options to add a small dose of color without disrupting your neutral vibe. Over time, maybe you’ll want to add colors a little brighter or bolder, or you’ll keep it calm with subtle colors. You can’t go wrong!
