The New Year has arrived and one common theme we all seem to grasp on to is… organization. What is it about a new year that makes us want to clear everything out and start fresh? While this typically starts with cleaning out our closets or swapping items out of our pantry, a new year brings the desire for a little refresh in all areas of our lives. This includes the home and the spaces we spend the most time in. Whether you’re looking for a complete home decor overhaul or just want to make your spaces feel a little more put together, we’re sharing 3 tips to declutter your walls (and home) for 2023 in today’s post.
How to declutter your walls (and home)
Pick one room at a time
It’s normal to want to transform your entire home or multiple rooms quickly and all at once. When the decluttering begins, it’s hard to stop! However, focusing on one room at a time is the way you’ll see the highest-quality results. This will allow you to focus on a few tasks without getting overwhelmed, and it will allow you to finish the project. Doing some decluttering here and some decluttering there won’t yield the transformation you’re after. Prioritize what room or space you want to work on first and start there.
Eye your walls
Sometimes a room feels cluttered because there is too much decor, sometimes it just needs a quality clean out. One thing people tend to forget is to take a space back and give your walls a little once over. Is there too much hanging? Not enough? Do you have too many photos and not enough art? Updating what is hanging on your wall will drastically change your space with minimal effort.
If your wall needs a little refresh for this year, try creating a new piece with our Custom Frame Builder. The frame builder allows you to create your perfect piece with various frame styles and colors, over 33 different mat colors, and the ability to upload a photo or art print within the builder so you can see exactly how it will look. A new frame could be all your need to make your home feel decluttered, refreshed, and complete! Play with the Custom Frame Builder here or browse different frames and mats on our site.
Don’t be afraid to get rid of things
Sometimes it can be difficult to get rid of things, especially home items, because of practicality. If this lamp works or this canvas fits on the wall, what’s the point of getting something new? Keep in mind how much your home dictates your overall mood and energy! This is a space that you spend most of your time in so you want it to be an environment that you enjoy. If that means creating a space that feels a little more minimal, or getting rid of that lamp that works perfectly fine but you don’t love, do it (if you’re able to)! You’ll be surprised at how much these small home updates will give you a new, positive feeling for the new year.
